CHRISTIAN FORMATION & EDUCATION For Children Christ Church seeks to provide parents with the tools for nurturing their children in the Christian faith and life. We believe that the real work of spiritual formation for the youngest members of our family takes place in the home. The few hours that are spent in the programs offered by the Church are, in a sense, a “bonus” for these children. The 10 am Eucharist each Sunday begins with a short children’s sermon. Fr. Bruce invites the youngsters to come up and sit around him in the chancel and he speaks just to them for a while – with a story or an object lesson or sometimes a skit. Then the children are dismissed to participate in age appropriate educational activities until returning to share Holy Communion with the rest of the church family. Special events and activities for children and families are planned from time to time.
For Adults The parish provides year-round spiritual formation activities for adults, including a weekly adult class, led by the Rector (which meets between the morning services), an annual Lenten Study Series, the Alpha Course, Centering Prayer workshops, and ongoing Bible study groups for both men and women. Other special short courses or lectures are also offered from time to time.
