CHRIST CHURCH NEWS - WEEK of July 20, 2008

WELCOME ALEXANDRA LOUTSION, OUR SOLOIST THIS MORNING. This is Alexandra's third summer studying at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Alexandra received her Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

THANK YOU to Bob and Liz Hamill and Keith Gardner, who have agreed to represent Christ Church as delegates to the Annual Diocesan Convention, which will be held in Longmont, Oct. 3-4.  Warren Klug will serve as alternate. Convention delegates must be appointed 90 days in advance of the meeting.

THE FIRST SUNDAY IN AUGUST IS LOAVES AND FISHES SUNDAY.  August 3rd is our annual ingathering of food to help restock the food pantry of Feed My Sheep Ministries, the homeless shelter in Glenwood. This is our church's way of participating in the state-wide Loaves and Fishes Sunday sponsored by our Diocese.  Grocery bags with attached shopping lists will be available in the foyer.  Since we are visitors at Aspen Community Church, we must respect their space.  Therefore, it is very important that you bring your food donations to church only on Sunday morning, 8/3.  If for some reason you won’t be attending services on 8/3, you can make a contribution by check.  Please make your checks payable to Christ Church, noting “Feed My Sheep” in the memo line.  Thank you!

LOOK FOR OUTREACH NAME TAGS AND LOGOS  Love Thy Neighbor Outreach Team wants everyone to know more about what our church is doing to carry out our mission of  helping those in need in our community and beyond.  Starting at today’s services, members of our parish who are involved in the projects and organizations we support with money and volunteers will be wearing tags with logos representing these activities.  At coffee hour, First Breakfasts, or "chat times" before and after services, look for the tags and ask the wearer what they represent, and how our church is participating in providing help to the organization.  Outreach is everyone's mission at Christ Church, whether it is through the funds budgeted to it by the Vestry, by special fundraisers, or with volunteer involvement.   The Outreach Team hopes you'll be interested in knowing more about this aspect of your church life.

IF YOU HAVEN’T YET DONE SO, MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR ROUND-UP SUNDAYOn the Sunday after Labor Day, September 7th, we will have our 5th annual Round-up Sunday Outdoor Service and Barbeque Picnic at Bob and Cynthia Chapman’s Coldstream Trout Lodge. You won’t want to miss this special time of worship and fellowship.  Be on the lookout for more details in the next Christ Church Chronicle newsletter.
